PURPOSE: To relieve impact by freely turnably mounting a catch rod in the perpendicular direction via a hinge at the top end of a press plate, mounting a leaf spring at the rear end of the catch rod, arranging a cylindrical passage for materials to be shredded opening in the upper stage of a shredding machine body so as to make the spring perpendicular to a rotary blade and providing the lower stage of the passage with notches for admission of the press plate and the catch rod. ;CONSTITUTION: The catch rod 16 catches a glass bottle 21 when the bottle is charged into a passage 18. At this time, the charging of the object to be shredded is detected and the rotary blade 4 starts rotating. A cam, a driven rod and a connecting rod are rotated by the rotation and the press plate 14 mounted at a revolving shaft 11 retreats cooperatively with the rotation. As a result, the catch rod 16 retreats as well and the glass bottle 21 falls onto the rotary blade 4. Meshing of the glass bottle with the rotary blade 4 is prevented by shortening the falling distance so as to make impact small.
