NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I having the following physical and chemical properties. Molecular formula, C19H26O4: molecular weight, 318; appearance, white powder; melting point, 257-258 deg.C; solubility, soluble in ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate and chloroform and insoluble in water and hexane; etc. USE:A carcinostatic agent and a remedy for abnormality of hormone. PREPARATION:The objective compound is produced by dissolving 6beta,14alpha -dihydroxy-4-androstene-3,17-dione of formula II in an organic chloride solvent such as chloroform, passing nitrogen through the solution, sealing with a plug and irradiating with visible light (e.g. solar light, white fluorescent lamp or tungsten lamp) for 4-24hr at normal temperature.
