PURPOSE: To obtain the subject rush having a touch feeling close to that of a natural rush and water absorbency and excellent in weather resistance, etc., without growing insects, etc., by passing a stretched tape of a thermoplastic resin through a heated narrow gap and forming the tape into a converged material having the partially fused surface. CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene is subjected to extrusion molding and then stretched preferably at 2-7 times in the longitudinal direction to provide a tapelike material 1, which is then introduced into a converging device 3 provided with a gap part 9 having preferably 1.0-1.5 mm gap diameter and equipped with heating devices 10 and grooves 11 with rollers 2, pulled with rollers 4 and cut to a desired length to afford the objective rush.
