In general, the present invention relates to new approaches for producing transgenic plants exhibiting a changed flower color by introducing dihydroflavonol-4-reductase (DFR), which preferably acts on dihydromyricetin (DHM). In particular, in the present invention, transgenic carnation plants and flowers cut from them, exhibiting unnatural floral color associated with the clove plants, have been created.
