Obtaining double-haploid cucumbers from haploid plants is improved considerably when immature, or unfertilised, egg cells or embryo sack cells, if appropriate surrounded by ovary tissue, are isolated, the formation of calluses, embryos or shoots is induced on a hormone-containing medium, these haploid plants are cultured, and a duplication of genom is effected.
