The present invention refers to the synthesis of tert-butylphosphine (tert-BuPH2), using as raw materials, gas, tert-butyl phosphine (PH3), bromide (or iodine), trialkylamine (NR3). R can be ethyl, propyl or butyl (for instance, tributylamine). The solvent can be an alkane (for instance, hexane, decane), toluene, dibutylether, or diglime (MeOCH2OCH2CH2Ome). The reaction can be carried out at a phosphine pressure of 10 bar. The method used for the synthesis of tert-buthylphosphine results in a 95 percent yield with respect to tert-butyl halogenide. After a product extraction with the aid of a vacuum pump and a subsequent distillation using a glass column (30 centimeters, at a temperature of -55 degree C, and a pressure of 1 bar) tert-buthylphosphine (liquid, colorless) is obtained with a purity of 99.5 percent.
