This invention describes a self-supported, optical cable for television in loose tube construction, helicoidally wired, unidirectional or bi-directional (sz) around a central light element with little mechanical memory. Central element acts by traction when cable is subjected to tension forces caused by installation; and a balancing element of expanding and contracting forces caused by cable operation on its thermal rank limits. Over core, an aramide or glass fibers layer is applied, to obtain more tension during installation. Over this set, a cable external plastic protection is applied. It can be used in aerial way, in conduits o directly buried.
