Control of fluid pressure within the eye ball for glaucoma sufferers

An implant for pressure relief in glaucoma cases consists of a tube (5) within the eye socket and an inflatable section (8), connected to one end of the tube, that can be attached to the back surface of the eye ball. When uninflated, this section has a bulbous form with a surface area of at least 300 mm2. The implant is provided with a cutaway (6), close to the centre, to accommodate an eye muscle.
