摘要
The invention refers to a variety of small beans called "Costela" which is obtained by repeated individual selection from a segregating population, and is recommended for cultivation in all favourable areas in the country, in main or successive cropping, for fresh consumption and industrialisation. The plants of the "Costela'' variety have the appearance of a 35-42 cm high bush with an average degree of ramification and pink flowers, which are rarely solitary and are usually grouped as 2-3 together. At technological maturity, the pods are 12-15 cm long, their average width in the middle is 0.8-1.1 cm, have a narrow seed section, have a green or light-green colour, are meaty and have no parchment layer or threads. The pods contain 1.82 percent total sugar, 6.2 percent soluble dry substance and 0.13 percent starch. The dry seeds are beige, average to big in size, are slightly kidney-shaped, have a slightly elliptical shape in circular section, are small, brown, and circular in cross section, and the weight of 1000 seeds is 60 g. It is an early variety which displays resistance to the bean common mosaic virus (BCMD) and the bean virus 1 (BV-1), and high tolerance to bacteriosis. This variety gives productions of over 14 tons of pods per hectare.
