The microorganism-Penicillium chrysogenum CCM 8157 strain is able to produce V and G penicillin in higher concentration than it is produced by the so far known strains. Higher concentrations are achieved by a mutant strain which is prepared in a reaction with proper mutagenes, passive selections and regulative mutant selection. Penicillin is produced in a fermentation medium containing a source of carbon, nitrogen, sulphur, phosphorus, trace elements, chalk, a side chain precursor and an antifoamer. Optimal cultivation temperature is 25 degrees Celsius. According to the invention, the strain produces, in the laboratory conditions, 45 000 units of penicillin V in 1 ml during 168 hours of fermentation in optimal conditions.
