Production of micro- and meso-porous metal silicates comprises hydrothermally converting a source for silicon and the metal in the presence of a template. The source for silicon and for the metal is a pyrogenic metal-silicon mixed oxide. Also claimed is a binder-free moulded body made of the above metal silicates.
