SIMULTANEOUS USE OF WATER SOLUBLE POLYMERS WITH OZONE IN COOLING WATER SYSTEMS

Certain water soluble polymers in the presence ofozone are acceptable for scale control, corrosion control,microbiological control and the like because theeffectiveness of these polymers is not substantiallynegated by ozone. The preferred polymers are homopolymersand copolymers containing at least 50 mole percent ofacrylic acid or methacrylic acid or mixtures thereof.Certain other monomers may be used with the acrylic acidand methacrylic acid monomers, and still function as scaleinhibitors and corrosion inhibitors in the presence ofozone in industrial waters. The industrial waters areparticularly recirculating cooling waters.
