The invention relates to a 3method for improving the feasi-bility of a drilling rig of jack-up type. The drilling rig (1) hasa frame part (2) comprising aworking deck (1a) and an essen-tially plane shaped bottom (1b),in connection of which therehas been arranged at least threefeet (3) operated by lifting de-vices (5), by means of which thedrilling rig (1) may be supportedon the sea bottom during anattachment phase and detachedfrom the sea bottom during a de-tachment phase, and a drillingunit (4) for drilling. The drillingunit (4) is arranged moveablein respect to the frame part (2)by means of a first transferringarrangement (6) to perform thedrilling during the drilling situa-tion essentially from outside theframe part (2). To improve thefeasibility of the drilling rig (l),particularly with a view to thesafety of the attachment phaseand/or the detachment phase, anair-bed or alike is being blown into an air space (10a), that is arranged below the frame part (2) of the drilling rig (1) and that is dischargeablefor the transportation position for the time of the said phase/phases at least to eliminate strokes directed from the sea level to the bottom(1b) of the frame part.
