The control method is for a series compensated converter station which comprises a converter (SR2) controlled by control equipment (CE2) and connected to a three-phase alternating network (N2). The control equipment generates an ordered value (AOL) of a control angle (~a) for valves (V1-V6) included in the converter depending on a limiting value (AMAXL). A calculating value (AMARG) of a control angle for the converter is continuously calculated according to a predetermined relationship (M0,M1,M2,M3) imitating a relationship where the angle is a function of a current and voltage in the station. The limiting signal is formed depending on the calculated value.
