The present invention relates to a method of journalling an elevatable, 360 DEG traversable artillery gun (11) in a vehicle (1) mounted platform, gun mounting or equivalent gun platform, and an artillery gun (11) designed as claimed in the invention. As claimed in the present invention the barrel of the gun (11) shall be journalled for elevation in trunnions (18, 18) mounted in an inner turret basket section (22) outwardly shaped mainly like a truncated conical section which, via two concentric circular slewing rings (24, 25) located and distanced one above the other, is mounted in an outer turret basket section (23) of the same general shape as the inner turret basket section (22) but of a larger diameter in order to accommodate the said inner turret basket section (22) and the slewing rings (24, 25).
