The gas cooker has at least one gas jet burner at the underside of a cooking surface formed out of a heat flow transfer material, such as glass-ceramic, glass or ceramic. The burner body is continuously connected to the cooking surface. There are controls for the gas flow ad ignition, safety and temperature regulators. The underside of the burner plate (5) is made of a fibre material, tiles or apertured ceramic. It has an arrangement for altering the through flow opening (8,20) for the gas-air mixture.
