Method and integrated machine 1 for making books 2, according to which a succession of units 9 of signatures 3, each containing successive signatures 3 of the same book 2, are formed on a conveyor 7 which extends through a series of magazines 6 of a collating unit 5, and are fed by the conveyor 7 itself directly to an inlet hopper 11 of a feeder unit 10, which feeds the signatures 3 in succession directly to an entrance of a stitching unit 14; the feed speed of the conveyor 7 being governed by the stitching unit 14 in such a way that on formation, by the stitching unit 14 itself, of a book 2 by means of carrying out n stitching operations, there is the corresponding feed to the feeder unit 10 by the collator unit 5 of n-1 signatures.
