Management of resources in ATM technique for weighted queuing applications - has control block which contains respective number of access rights to output links or tokens
The method for the management of resources in ATM technique for Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ) applications in a system (SORTER) involves inserting the cells of each flow in a respective transmission queue (QAi). A unique token number (TKNi) is assigned (INITTOKEN) to each of said transmission queues (Qai). Indicators (Qidi) of the transmission queues (Qai) are inserted (INITFGB) inside a high priority storage structure (FGB). The high priority storage structure (FGB) is scanned (SERVINGFGB) in order to serve the transmission queues in FIFO order. The tokens at their disposal are decreased. The indicators of the queues which have exhausted their tokens are transferred inside a low priority storage structure (FAB). After terminating (ISFGBEMPTY) the scan of the high priority storage structure (FGB), (SERVINGFAB) the low priority storage structure (FAB) is scanned in order to serve the queues indicated by it until the end of the renewal time (TR) occurs.
