ORTHOTIC DEVICE FOR THE DYNAMIC TREATMENT OF TEARING OR STRAINING OF THE LIGAMENTS OF THE LATERAL ANKLE

An improved orthotic device for treating torn orsprained ankle ligaments has a leggings-type bandageformed of medial, lateral, and plantar textile clothsections closable upon one another by closing bands,medial and lateral splints insertable within splint-mountingbands which are carried by the medial and lateraltextile cloth sections, and a separate eversion wedgewhich can be adjustably applied to the bandage. Theeversion wedge has two walls formed approximatelyperpendicular to one another, with the plantar walldecreasing in a wedge-shaped manner away from the lateralwall thereof. An anti-plantar flexion band formed from acurved strip can be fastened so as to extend away from thelateral side and under the plantar portion of the bandageand terminates at its two ends in adhesion strips, both ofwhich can adhered to the medial splint-mounting band.
