A picture frame member for use in assembling a pictureframe incorporates a flip-up type clip for the releasableindependent retention of a picture and backing board. Eachmember consists of an elongate flat base, a clip comprising agenerally channel-shaped elongate member having two flangededges facing the base, a downwardly-biased clip supportextending along an edge of the base, and a hinge that linksthe clip to the clip support. The two flanges of the clipseparately grip a picture and a backing board. There may alsobe provided a separate backing board grip member incorporatedinto the base. The clip employs an over-centre mount to theclip support, in order to permit the clip to maintain eithera flipped-open position or a closed position wherein anincreased grip pressure is applied to the backing board inrelation to the picture."
