Disclosed is a process for the preparation of cyclicsilane esters and solvolysis products thereof, in which (A) ahydridosilane of the general formula I, H-SiX(R1)2, is reactedwith an allyl compound containing a hydroxyl group, of thegeneral formula II, CH2=CR3CH2-[O(CHR3)x]yOH, in a condensationreaction to give an open-chain, olefinically unsaturatedorgano-hydridosilane ester of the general formula III,CH2=CR3CH2-[O(CHR3)x]yO-SiH(R1)2, (B) this open-chain organohydridosilaneester is reacted in a hydrosilylation reaction to give a cyclicorganosilane ester of the general formula IV(see fig,I)(C) where required, the cyclic organosilane ester IV, when atleast one of the radicals R1 is a halogen atom and the otherradical R1, if present, is an organic radical R2 bonded via aC atom, is reacted with an alcohol of the general formula R2OHto give the corresponding cyclic organyloxyorganosilane esterof the general formula V(see fig.II)and (D) the ester IV or the ester V is solvolyzed with waterto give a hydrolysis product of the general formula VI,{-Si(O-)(a+1)(R2)(2-a)CH2CHR3CH2-[O(CHR3)x]yOH}n, or with analcohol of the general formula R2OH to give an alcoholysisproduct of the general formula VII, Si(OR2)(a+1)(R2)(2-a)-(CH2CHR3CH2-[O(CHR3)x]yOR2). The compounds IV, V, VI and VIIare novel. The compounds III, IV, V, VI and VII are useful asa crosslinking agent or adhesive, among others.
