摘要

Disclosed are processes for producing stably transformed fertile wheat and asystem of transforming wheat via Agrobacterium. This invention providesmethods for transforming a variety of explants, such as freshly isolated orpre-cultured immature embryos, embryogenic callus and suspension cells. Alsodisclosed are methods for recovering transgenic plants after transformationwithin a short period of time, if the explants are regenerable at the time oftransformation. Thus, the frequency of somaclonal variation associated withprolonged in vitro culture period is significantly reduced. The transformationfrequency using this system is comparable to or better than published methodsusing other systems, such as microprojectile bombardment.
