A method of preparing a carton with a prefolded interior paper lining includesfeeding carton blanks (22) having a surface (40), the surface having leadingand trailing edges (32, 34) and right and left side edges, (36, 38), feeding apaper web (64), folding the paper to have a base portion (86) having an edge(114) and at least a first flap (88) joining the base portion (86) at a firstcrease (87), cutting a section (110) off the paper web (64), and inserting thepaper section (110) with the carton blank surface (40), such that the edge(114) and crease (87) of the base portion (86) of the paper are spaced at apredetermined distance inward from each respective carton blank side edge.
