The invention concerns a device or apparatus for setting up and operating a game of skill in particular of darts played for money, in which are provided, for an individual game of darts, 4 or 5 darts, controlled by a microprocessor (1), a target with equiangular segments, a slot machine in which a player puts coins and a console serving as support to a series of three push buttons for debiting (stake +) or crediting (stake -) the amounts staked and for starting the game. The invention is characterised in that the physical sensors (18) serve to reveal the laterality of the player and produced by the push buttons for starting the game symmetrically arranged with respect to the median plane of the apparatus and also to reveal the psychomotor behaviour by means of a proximity sensor and debit (stake +) and credit (stake -) push buttons, the player, being then identified more and more closely by a mathematical algorithm produced by the microprocessor based on his rate of success continuously compared during the game to that of the statistical population of previous players.
