The invention concerns a device for folding down a rigid and streamlined protective element on the back of a motorcyclist which automatically adapts to the different riding positions. It is made up of a fixed part, the slide (1), in which a mobile part slides, the carriage (7), driven by an electric motor (8). This carriage (7) is topped by the part protecting the motorcyclist's back, the shell (3), which is operated by an actuator (12), which is operated by photo-electric cells (17), (18), excited by the motorcyclist; the device is completed by a safety buckle (14), (15), for this motorcyclist. The device is designed for all types of motorcycles and particularly for sports motorcycles.
