ADSORBENTS FOR TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME TOXIN-1, METHOD FOR ELIMINATING THE TOXIN BY ADSORPTION, ADSORBERS PACKED WITH THE ADSORBENTS, AND USE OF THE ADSORBENTS

Adsorbents for toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) composed of a water-insoluble carrier and a compound which is immobilized thereon and has a log P (wherein P means the partition coefficient in an octanol-water system) of at least 2.50; a method for eliminating TSST-1 in bodily fluids, characterized by bringing bodily fluids containing TSST-1 into contact with the above-mentioned adsorbents; adsorbers for TSST-1 comprising a container which is packed with the above adsorbents and provided with an inlet and an outlet of bodily fluids and a means for preventing the leakage of the adsorbents therefrom; and use of the above adsorbents. By using these adsorbents, TSST-1 in bodily fluids can be efficiently adsorbed and eliminated.
