A NEW METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF NOVEL POWDER MINERALS SURFACE COATED WITH FINE TITANIUM DIOXIDE CRYSTALS

A process for coating a water insoluble or sparingly water soluble natural and artificial mineral (carrier) powder with titanium dioxide. A slurry is created by milling/mixing titanium dioxide powder, water and a dispersant selected from among low (∫150) molecular weight monocarboxylic acids and their anhydrides. The carrier powder is mixed with the titanium dioxide slurry to produce a coated powder. The scope of the present invention also includes the coated powder, the slurries and the improved titanium dioxide powder of the slurry.
