Local binary segmentation of a digital image I0 by histogram thresholding, characterised in that it comprises steps for constructing a cumulative histogram curve of the number Y of objects of the image I0 by grey level, this histogram being defined as the function which, at each grey level X associates the number Y of objects contained in the binary image, the number obtained by thresholding the image I0 at the said grey level X, and by counting the number of objects as a function of a reference distance, and steps for determining the segmentation threshold automatically from this histogram.
