Palladium containing supported catalyst for the selective hydrogenation of acetylen in hydrocarbon streams

Supported catalyst (I), suitable for selective hydrogenation of C2H2 in hydrocarbon streams, is based on SiO2 and contains 0.001-1 wt.% Pd and 0.005-5 wt.% gp. I and/or II metal(s) as promoter. It is obtd. by impregnating a SiO2 support with a soln. contg. the promoter metal(s), drying, impregnating with a soln. contg. Pd, drying and calcining. Also claimed is a method of preparing (I).
