The lawn mower has a cutting blade (72) to cut the grass and a feed system (12) to collect the grass cuttings and move them into a compactor (15), which squeezes the grass into pellets. A second screw feed (75) moves the grass pellets into the range of the cutters. This chops the pellets into smaller units and spreads them evenly over the cut grass.The grass cutting collector, the compactor and the second screw drive are all driven off the same engine. The cutter blades are shaped to cut the grass and to distribute the cut pellets. The cutters can be mounted inside a shaped housing which assists the even spreading of the cut pellets. The pellets do not have to have any of the water content removed during processing.
