The present invention discloses a porous silicon, a manufacturing method thereof, and an electroluminescent device using the porous silicon. The porous silicon is very stable in the air because a polymer layer having a predetermined thickness is formed on its outer surface. Electroluminescent devices manufactured using such porous silicon not only have excellent stability but also good image display characteristics.
