Ultrasound diagnostic imaging systems are provided to measure the volume of the ventricles or other organs or blood vessels. The ultrasonic transducer probe is used to scan the chamber with a plurality of spatially distinct scanning planes. The pixels of the ventricular volume of each scanning plane are gathered to provide a measurement of the volume.;In a preferred embodiment, ventricular volume pixels are developed from a Doppler signal from a fluid in the chamber and are associated with voxels in the chamber by weighting pixels in the scanning plane according to voxel sampling provided by separation between planes.
