METHOD FOR GENERATING CAUSE MESSANG IN ATM SYSTEM

The method of generating a cause message used in displaying an error generated during an operation of a system in an asynchronous transfer mode and a source where the error is generated, comprises: the first step of generating content of an identifier for displaying cause information depending on bit information provided from an information producer, a coding standard and an information instruction filed to store it in a given address of a memory; the second step of storing the content of expansion bit, spare bit and position information indicating the source of the error in a given address of the memory depending on bit information provided from the information producer and after that, adding one to the total length; the third step of deciding addresses of information and a length thereof for reading information in accordance with a kind of an error to initialize a value of the count; the fourth step of sequently copying the content of that address as the length of information in accordance with the above error depending upon the information bit provided from the information producer to store it; the fifth step of sequently storing a start address of the addresses of a cause information message generated through the above respective steps and total length information of a message to be new generated in a given address of the memory and after that, adding an address length of information in accordance with a kind of the error; and the sixth step of detecting start address information of the addresses for the cause information message which were generated through the above respective steps to be stored in the memory and total length information for the message to be new generated and then, outputting it.
