Image quality improvement circuit using noise reduction and histogram equalization and its method

The circuit of the present invention detects noise of an impulse component present in an input video signal, trims the detected impulse noise, and outputs a noise canceled signal, and inputs a noise canceled signal to input a gray level distribution of a screen unit. The noise is first removed from the input signal by including a histogram equalizer that calculates a cumulative distribution value based on the signal and outputs an equalized signal by mapping the noise-removed signal to a new gray level according to the cumulative distribution function value. By histogram assimilating the signal, the image quality can be improved by suppressing the amplification of noise while improving contrast.
