COMPOSITION FOR COLORIMETRIC DETERMINATION OF BLOOD SERUM IRON

FIELD: medicine, clinical diagnostics. SUBSTANCE: composition is a water solution which contains urea, ion-free detergent, reductant, thiourea and hydrochloric acid at pH being 1.50-1.80. Determination is conducted as follows: serum sample is supplemented with a working solution the composition of which is being the suggested composition. After keeping to remove iron from serum protein and its reduction solution pH is made to reach value of 4.5 by adding an acetate buffer; after addition of chromogen (for example, ferrosine) estimation of optic density is carried out. EFFECT: higher efficiency to determine serum iron in pathological, turbid and lipemic sera without their deproteinization.
