With values of rate of change of reduced voltage &Dgr;И 0 and its absolute value below preset one inadequate ( from nominal ) feed of alumina into electrolyte is carried out till values of rate of change of reduced voltage &Dgr;И ≥ 0 are achieved, its absolute value is evaluated, compared with preset one and mismatch is corrected. In this case feed of alumina into electrolyte is transferred to nominal ( calculated ) mode. If "АЭ" prediction is available excessive feed of alumina into electrolyte is carried out till this prediction disappears or to appearance of "АЭ" and interpole gap is not corrected. In presence of MHD instability inadequate feed of alumina is conducted and interpole gap is enlarged till MHD instability is corrected. After correction of "АЭ" excessive feed of alumina into electrolyte is carried out in the course of time proportional to voltage.
