The infrared receiver includes an infrared reception unit which receives digital infrared signals and converts them into digital electric signals. This comprises a microcontroller (30), a first memory (32) for the storage of the received information, and a second memory (34) for the storage of an utility program. A keyboard (40) is provided for an entry of user-specific selection data, which determine the information chosen from the first memory. There is a display arrangement (42) provided for the display of the selected information. A time generator is provided, which supplies the microcontroller with selection data for the selection of information from the first memory.
