The method involves heating the body (1) and then optically scanning the body point by point with camera (4) and evaluation unit (5). The surface elements are then recorded or displayed (7) in respect of their variations. The data recorded can be in digital form and can be processed digitally. The body to be investigated can be of a composite material.
