The magnetic resonance equipment has an opening (1) into which the patient can be admitted from either side (2 or 3). Its interior is divided by a barrier (4) in the form of a cylinder of e.g. Teflon film which is sealed (5) into the exposure apparatus (6). Lifting jacks (11,12) for tables (13) carrying the patient are installed in both spaces (9,10), either of which can be equipped as a sterile enclosure while a patient less vulnerable to infection occupies the other space.
