Method of generating data sets for programming a numerically controlled (NC) machine tool

The method involves the operator in freely manipulating the NC machine tool, e.g. using hand wheels to make the shaped elements of the workpiece to be manufactured using an open numerically-controlled machine tool configuration based on a PC. An innovative control concept is used with high software intelligence. The geometric and technological data derived during the manufacture of the shaped elements are converted into data sets for the subsequent program-controlled manufacture of the workpiece.
