Speed measuring apparatus especially for measuring speed of moving patient beds in medicine technology

The device measures the speed of a moving system. At least one ultrasound transmitter (2) is provided on the system (1). This transmits several ultrasound waves. At least one of these is directly incident on an ultrasound detector (7) and the others are incident on a further ultrasound detector (6) after reflection at an edge (20) of the system (1). The device also includes a computing member (12). This calculates the speed of the system from the respective propagation times of the different ultrasound waves.
