The image system includes a module (1 to 4) for taking images, a device (5 to 8, 11, 12) for processing the images, a device (9) for transmitting the images and a device (10) for storing the images on several separate storage devices. The device for storing the images comprises a control mechanism which is formed in such way, that successive image data records are stored in separate storage systems. The storage system pref. includes an image file system and a data base for temporarily storing the images, and the control mechanism switches the storing onto another storage device, if one of the storage devices fails.
