Rapid thermal de-coking of water-cooled steam cracker lines by burning off with steam air mixture

This new method removes coke from a process gas line, which includes a gas cooler (1) supplied with fluid. The coke layer is heated to ignition temperature and burned off. In the novel process, an additive raising the boiling point is mixed into the coolant. At the same time, a gas containing oxygen is passed through the process line. Also claimed is use of the method as described, for the thermal de-coking of cracked gas coolers of steam crackers.
