Application of coloured flock to extruded section esp.vehicle body seal

A profiled section, esp. for sealing vehicle body parts,has different colours and/or types of flock applied to its surface. The flock is projected into the surface after extrusion while the extrusion is stationary during cutting of holes or separating edges. The flock is applied in predetermined regions which are kept separate from each other. Preferably the flocking chamber (3,10) is placed immediately after the extruder and flock (8,9) is blown from a supply (7) onto the adhesive surface of the section (11) while it is still damp. The flocking chamber (10) is separated by adjustable walls (16,18) into separate compartments (15,17,19) with their own flock supply. Excess flock is drawn off separately and recycled to the corresponding supply. A transport arrangement (12) is synchronised with the drilling and cutting station so that the correct type of flock is applied to the appropriate length (35,36,37) while the extrusion is stationary. In addition to transverse dividing walls (16,18), longitudinal walls can also be fitted if different types of flock are to be applied to different parts of the periphery of the extruded section. After flocking, drilling and cutting, the extrusion is forwarded to a drying and cleaning station.
