Flexible joint spanning gap between two sections of roadway

The joint (1) bridges the gap between two moving sections of roadway (7). There is a cavity (5) in each end (2,3) of the sections of roadway and there is a bridge-piece or cross-support (6) with spans the gap (4) between the two sections of roadway. There are pads on top of this bridge-piece which support the broad feet of e.g. two straight lamellae (11). The lamellae have a cross-section resembling a railway rail. There are flexible sealing strips (13) between adjacent lamellae, and their edges are accommodated in grooves in the sides of the broad heads of the lamellae. Meandering wear plates (8) are laid on top of the lamellae and are supported by them and by support plates at the sides of the gap.
