The air conditioning system for a twin-deck aircraft has the make-up airflow (2A) split into separate flows (8A,9A) for the two decks. The flows are passed through air conditioning units (10A,10B) before being mixed with recirculated air from the hold space. Additional local mixing (15A,15B) with all the extracted air from the top cabin prepares the two air flows for ducting directly to the two decks. The lower, main cabin (7) vents into the hold space. Some of the air is vented to the outside (17A) while the main flow is added to the make-up airflows. Balancing of the flows ensures that there is no draught between the two decks. IMAGE
