A method is described for recording an image on a support by a writing system with reduced density resolution. A classic screening technique for binary schrijffsystemen is extended to multiple energy levels belonging to three classes: non-signatory, unstable and signatory stable energy levels. For each class, certain rules must be respected in order to obtain predictable results without density jumps on the carrier. The methods outside the spatial and density resolution of the writing system in areas with high density and increase the reproducibility of low densities by sacrificing spatial resolution.
