A method is described for recording an image on a support by a writing system with reduced density resolution. A classic screening technique for binary schrijffsystemen is extended to multiple energy levels belonging to three classes: non-signatory, unstable and signatory stable energy levels. For each class, certain rules must be respected in order to obtain predictable results without density jumps on the carrier.
