N-Sulphonyl and sulphamoyl peptidyl prolinamide derivatives of formula (I), their optical and geometric isomers and mixtures, and their salts with acids and bases are new. In (I), R = 1-4C alkyl, phenyl-(1-4C) alkyl, NR1R2, pyrrolidin-1-yl, piperidin-1-yl or a group of formula (i): R1 = H, 1-4C alkyl or phenyl-(1-4C) alkyl; R2 = 1-4C alkyl or phenyl-(1-4C) alkyl; Z = O, S, NR6, SO or SO2; R5 = H or 1-4C alkyl; and R6 = H or 1-4C alkyl.
