The javelin has a shaft (1) which is a hollow tube made in synthetic material reinforced with carbon fibres. A steel point (2) has a cylindrical back end which is inserted into the front end of the shaft and fixed by bonding. The shaft is made by moulding a roll of fibres impregnated with synthetic resin. A back balancing point (3), made of metal, has a cylindrical front end which is inserted into the back end of the shaft and bonded in place.
