A device for measuring the sebum secretion rate of the scalp, including a probe provided with a light flux transmitter (102) and a translucent element (104) designed to be placed on a portion of the scalp to collect sebum; and a receiver (113) for measuring the light flux transmitted from the transmitter through the translucent element previously placed on said portion of the scalp, and comparing the measurement with a reference signal. Said translucent element is a frosted glass disc with a working contact area having a diameter of approximately 1-3 mm, and the light flux transmitter is an LED transmitting in the green spectrum.
